Refilwe Buthelezi is a Professional Engineer and President of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO). She has held senior leadership roles at Rand Water, where she championed operational technology and sustainable infrastructure development, and has served as a Non-Executive Director at both SANRAL and Transnet. A leading voice in African engineering, she is dedicated to advancing innovation and collaboration to solve the continent’s construction and infrastructure challenges.

James Afolalu
Digital Twins & Infrastructure Systems Expert

James Afolalu is a civil engineer, program director, and technical consultant with expertise in data governance, service architecture, and operational transformation across aviation, telecom, energy, and enterprise IT.

At Schiphol Airport, he has been central to advancing the airport’s data modernization strategy, leading initiatives such as the ROAD (Road to Optimized Assets) program and Business Intelligence Migration. His work has included mapping and enriching asset data, integrating GIS, BIM, and Digital Twin models, and aligning documentation with operational needs.

James brings together technical fluency and strategic insight to bridge engineering teams, contractors, and data stakeholders.
